Meet Your teacher

Ann Coates BA Dip Ed.
Teaches: All age groups and classes! Adults too.
Co- director of UpStage

When Ann was a little girl she used to be teased by her brothers for performing to herself in front of the mirror. Thankfully she was able to funnel her passion for performance into a way of life.

Ann has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Drama and a Diploma of Education. She has over 25 years extensive experience in teaching K – 12 students in NSW State and Catholic schools and loves connecting with students creatively through drama.

Ann has been responsible for helping to implement and facilitate such performing arts programs as Hunter Drama Camp and the Creative Arts Camp for the Dept of Education. She also helped co-ordinate auditions for Hunter School of the Performing Arts, where she was a permanent member of staff for 10 years.

Ann has been in theatre for most of her life and has directed almost 20 productions for Young People’s Theatre, University of Newcastle, Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Tocal Homestead and UpStage Youth Theatre, collaborating with some of the Hunter’s best creative and performing artists.
