Milla Kime
Milla is a visual storyteller with a soft spot for the magic that happens when creative young people feel truly seen. Currently studying a Bachelor of Communications in Media Arts and Production, Writing and Publishing at UTS, she brings a rich blend of film, photography, writing and movement direction to everything she touches.
Growing up in rural Australia shaped her eye for detail and her heart for community - both of which shine through in her work and in the way she champions emerging artists. Since 2020, she’s been directing and developing youth acting groups, including right here at Upstage, where she welcomes regional young people into the arts with generosity and genuine care.
Milla has collaborated on multiple short films, directed a music video for the band Elestial, and seen her writing and film photography published at UTS. In 2025 she wrote and directed a short film that went on to win awards sponsored by the Faculty of Social Sciences at UTS, including Best Director: Fiction and Best Cinematography. Not bad for someone who still claims to be “just getting started”.
Her creative approach is rooted in curiosity - a fascination with those tiny, delicate, blink-and-you-miss-them moments that quietly shape who we become. Milla’s work invites audiences to slow down, to breathe, to reflect, and to appreciate the strange and wonderful business of being human.
