At UpStage we believe everyone has the right to express themselves and create theatre in a safe and comfortable environment.

If you have any trouble meeting any of the below terms and conditions please contact UpStage via email accounts@upstageyouththeatre.com.au or phone on 0402 331 197 to discuss BEFORE classes commence. All correspondence and communication is confidential.

UpStage Teachers and Tutors

Our teachers are university qualified and bring industry experience and a passion for their craft to each lesson. They believe in the power of drama to develop students into confident, mature and creative individuals.  All teachers are approved for working with children and hold a current Working With Children Check number.  All teachers are assisted by a senior student from Upstage who has demonstrated leadership and a willingness to pass on their skills to younger UpStage members. These tutors are carefully chosen by the Director.

Fee Structure & Punctual Payment

Enrolments are not accepted without full payment

Admin Levy
We have an annual administration fee of $40 per family. This fee covers public liability insurance and admin and enrolment costs. Students also receive a t-shirt to wear to their weekly classes, rehearsals and productions.

Trial Lesson Fee
Students wishing to trial lessons at UpStage must pay the above enrolment levy plus $40 BEFORE their first lesson. All new students are given the opportunity to come along and try three of our regular weekly classes. If you decide to continue, the balance of the full term fee becomes due immediately. The three classes must be trialled in consecutive weeks.

Production Levy
At times during the year students are given the additional opportunity to audition and perform in one of our major productions. Successful auditionees pay a production levy of $100 per cast member.

NOTE: Production levies help to alleviate extra costs such as venue hire, rehearsal venue hire, costumes, props, sets etc. Every effort is made to keep all of our fees and prices to a minimum.

Family Discount
Families with more than two students attending UpStage are entitled to a 10% discount.

Multiple Class Discount
Students doing more than one UpStage class per term are entitled to a 10% discount.

Term fees are due and to be paid in full before the commencement of each term.

Refunds will not be given for missed classes. All fees are non-refundable.

Account balances must be kept up to date at all times. If fees are not paid by the due dates it may result in your child not being able to participate in performance opportunities and furthermore suspended from attending classes. Upstage reserves the right to charge a late payment fee of $25.

Fee Payment Method

Fees can be paid in a number of ways which ensure we are able to start our classes on time and students enjoy the maximum class time:

Direct Debit via Payrix
Customers pay through a secure and safe direct debit company, Payrix. Payments for fees are retrieved via Payrix once a term, from a savings, cheque or credit account. Payrix does incur some small fees to each transaction - see below for the breakdown. The default fee structure is 3 monthly.

Bank Account - $0.88 per transaction'

Credit/Debit Card - $0.33 per transaction

Mastercard or Amex - $1.98 per transaction

BPay Card Payment - $1.25 per transaction

BPay Bank Account - $1.25 plus 1.25% per transaction

Failed Transaction - $4.40 plus Upstage late fee charges if account is not settled within a week of missed payment.

Internet Transaction—Direct Deposit

For one off lessons or if you miss a payment and want to pay for direct debit is due, the following account can be used. The payment must be cleared before the due date to stop direct debit. Due to the different processing times for different banks, we advise these types of payments be made one week prior to the direct debit due date to be safe.

Attendance

Punctuality is extremely important at UpStage Youth Theatre. If you intend to become a professional in this extremely competitive industry, punctuality will put you in good stead. Your teacher will also remember punctuality when it comes to casting productions.

It is important that you contact UpStage if you are going to be absent from class. If a student misses 3 or more classes in a term without notification it will be assumed that you are not returning. this will result in you forfeiting your position in any subsequent performance opportunity or productions you may have been involved in and your position in your class will be reopened for other enrolments.

Student Safety

  • All of our students have the right to feel safe to express themselves in our classes without fear of ridicule, bullying behaviour or physical harm. Students are expected to respect the creative input of all students including giving full attention and focus during class performances. If any student is in breach of this expectation, the Upstage director has the authority to exclude him or her indefinitely without a refund.

  • Upstage Youth Theatre reserves the right to make archival photographic and/or visual recordings of classes for inclusion in UpStage archives and for use in UpStage marketing publications.

  • Children are well supervised the entire class duration and are not permitted to leave the class unless pre-arranged by the student's parent/guardian.

  • Our classes and activities often involve the development and exploration of physical skills such as running. These activities carry the risk of physical harm.

  • Upstage will not be held responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings whilst at classes.

    Confirmation and Acknowledgement

Upon signing your enrolment form you are stating that you understand, acknowledge and agree with all of the above stated.

Failing to adhere to the above may mean you could be in breach of your enrolment agreement. Therefore this could result in a forfeit of your position in any subsequent performances and your position in the class may be reopened for other enrolments.
